Facebook ad placement
Last week I wrote about the five levers you can use to improve your Facebook ads. I wanted to go more in-depth regarding Facebook ad placement, which is one of the most important levers you can pull. Facebook ads can be placed in the following:
– All of Facebook (right hand side, news feed, mobile and desktop)
– News feed (desktop and mobile)
– News feed (desktop only)
– News feed (mobile only)
– Desktop only (right hand side and news feed)
For all mobile placements you can also pick from the following:
– Feature phones only
– Android devices only
– iOS devices only
– Only mobile devices who are connected to wi-fi
That is A LOT of choices! But there are really only a few things you need to consider when picking. Is your website mobile optimized? If it isn’t, you don’t want any mobile traffic. If it’s only optimized for apple products or loads slowly if not on wi-fi, pick the applicable choices. In general though, I like to run all of my ads in news feed on desktop and mobile. You get a great looking ad in an engaging placement when you do that. However, if you want to reach a lot of people, news feed will decrease your reach some, so it’s ok to add in right hand side ads.
Those are basically the only rules for figuring out where to place your Facebook ads. As always, let me know if you have any questions!
